Heather and Stan finally got to leave Michigan with Gaines after 4 long weeks. He is such a precious boy and I can't wait to spend more time with him. The big 3 loved him, especially Kate. Reed liked him until Mommy gave Gaines a bottle. Then he decided he didn't like him quite as much!

Disney Day 2

we went to the magic kingdom on sunday. it was a beautiful day!

we started off the day seeing pluto.

the girls loved it's a small world.

kate loved every single character and hated most of the rides. ella, on the other hand, did not like any of the characters but would ride the biggest rides there.

jack loved the flying carpet ride.

i think we rode dumbo a thousand times!

Disney Day 1

We took the big 3 to Disney back in October. Reed stayed in Winona with Mimi and G. The first day we hit the ground running, going to Epcot and then going to the Magic Kingdom until about midnight. So much fun! One thing I learned-no matter how old the kids are, you need to rent a cart for them to ride in. It's a whole lot of walking for little legs!

We had dinner with the princesses at the Norway pavilion, also known as the home of the $22 hot dog. It was so much fun and the girls were in heaven.

Christmas was wild this year and it went by way too fast! You get ready for it for what seems like forever then it's over in a flash. The kids had a great time and Santa was very good to them. Winter Dance Recital

This past weekend was the girls' winter recital. They get so excited about dancing on the "big stage." These are the times that I am so happy I have little girls. I grew up dancing and of course with Mama and Nannie both being dance teachers I was thrilled when I knew the twins were girls! This is their second year of dancing and they really love it. Next year, they will go at least 2 days a week. They did a great job!

11 Months

Hard to believe these sweet girls are already four years old! On September 11th, 2007 at 11:02 and 11:03 they came into this world and have been making their presence known ever since. They couldn't be any more different in looks and personality. We can't wait to see what this year holds!

We go to the zoo a lot. It's kind of our go to plan when there is nothing else to do. We went on Labor Day with everybody else in the city.

I just loved this picture. What's funny to is me is how Jack and Ella are standing almost exactly alike.

10 Months Old

My sweet little man is 10 months old!! Time has flown by! He has grown up so fast and is closer now to a toddler than a baby. He crawls everywhere super fast, pulls up on everything, cruises around the furniture, and has stood a few times by himself. He says mama, dada, Ella (we think that's what it is), and hi. He waves bye bye sometimes and is just starting to figure out clapping. He LOVES to have your undivided attention and is prone to falling apart if you get out of his sight! He has 6 teeth and eats just about anything. I think he's about weaned himself from bottles. The only one he cares much about is his nighttime one. He's way too busy to be still for too long.

He wears a size 4 diaper and I'm buying 18 month clothes for fall. He weighed 23lbs. 10 oz. a couple of weeks ago and was 29 1/2 inches long. A big boy! We love you Reed!

Ella, also known as Reed's other mother, just adores her baby brother. She greets him in his crib every morning, picks out his clothes for the day. Luckily she shares her mom's penchant for seersucker, jon jons, smocking, and bubbles for little boys. But maybe because that's all that is in his closet. :) When he's awake she follows him around keeping him away from "big kid things" and giving him Ella approved toys. Such a sweet girl!

Reed-8 Months

Reed turned 8 months old today. I can't believe he's getting so big so fast. Seems like just yesterday that we saw his sweet little face for the first time. He is the happiest little baby-he smiles all the time. He's so easygoing. I guess he figures he has to be with 3 brothers and sisters. He has 2 teeth and has decided that eating big people food is more fun than baby food. So far he likes waffles, banana, cheerios, veggie sticks (thanks Jenny for that idea!), and cheese. He has 3-4 bottles a day and has started to get the hang of the cup. He's becoming more and more mobile and trying so hard to crawl. He's my little angel baby!

Reed at 7 Months

Even though he'll be 8 months in a week or so, I wanted to write down Reed's goings-on for his 7 month. The day after he turned 7 months his first tooth popped through. The next week, his second one did. He sits up well all by himself, and has started army crawling all over the floor. Occasionally he'll get on all fours and rock, but no crawling yet. At 6 months he weighed 20 lbs. and was 27 inches long. He's wearing mostly 12 month clothes and size 3 diapers. We're phasing out nursing and he's taking a couple bottles a day. He loves to eat and we're just starting to give him tiny bits of real food. He's growing up way too fast!

Now that Reed has 2 teeth, we've started a few bits of "real food." He tried some puffs and banana the other day. He hasn't quite developed his pincer grasp so he had a little trouble getting them in his mouth but when he did he liked them!

Sprinkler Park

While Jack was away in Winona last week, we took the girls to the sprinkler park. They were really excited to go, but once we got there they really didn't care for it that much. Ella said the water was too cold.

Every Little Girl Wants to be a Princess

And on Thursday, my girls thought they were. We headed downtown for dinner and we found one of the Cinderella carriages. The carriage driver kept referring to them as princesses and that just thrilled them to no end. Kate told him, "we got big bows so that means we're a princess." Don't know where that came from. Now that they know about the carriages we're in trouble!

So, I got a little ambitious and decided to make Reed's baby food. Several of my friends have done it so I thought I'd give it a try. My biggest obstacle was the time and the mess involved. So I got the Beaba babycook and it couldn't be any easier. Just steam the food and then puree it all in the same machine. The food is really good! It's bright and colorful and is yummy too. But, Reed definitely was not a fan of peas. He could have cared less about their bright green color. He just wanted them out of his mouth!

So after almost 6 months of only nursing, we decided it was time for Reed to try some solids. We had to get a new high chair-the print is a little obnoxious, but it says it's easy to clean so I got it. We tried rice cereal first but Reed thought it was nasty, so we tried some oatmeal. That went over much better. He's growing up WAY too fast!

My very best friend from high school/college, Dana, and her family came through Memphis last week on their way to Mississippi for her sister's wedding. We met at the zoo and enjoyed the beautiful day. She gave me the best possible news-after living in the land of the Yankees for several years, they are headed back to the South. They'll be moving to Murfreesboro in May! An easy drive from Memphis. Hope Stephen is ready for lots of road trips!

Our Spring Break in Winona

We headed to Winona for a couple of days during spring break. I hadn't been there since Christmas and it was so nice to be there. We played outside, sat on the porch, saw Murry Catherine, and just hung out together. We're never there long enough for me. Some pictures from our time there-Ella wouldn't cooperate so no pictures of her.

My Girls {With Pictures By Jack}

Having twins really is fun. Sure, it's busy and there were times when they were tiny babies that I was so tired that I didn't even know who I was holding. But it's really fascinating watching them grow up. They really are each other's best friend. At times they fight like cats and dogs but they love each other.

It's amazing how different they are-in looks as well as personality. One is all girly girl who loves the color pink and dressing up like a princess and pretending to get married. A little bit of a drama queen who is prone to small freak outs if she gets dirty or sees a bug. Quite the conversationalist, she will talk to anybody!! She loves dance class and chick fil a.

The other is girly with a little bit of tough girl thrown in for good measure. She is as tough as nails-she could fall off the roof then hop up and say 'I okay!" A daredevil who has no problem getting dirty, she's also quite attached to her big brother. Real easy going but when she gets mad watch out! Loves to dance, watch cartoons and go to "Chick Way" with Miss Jessica.

Reed-4 Months {a little late}

So my plan to post Reed's monthly update on time every month just didn't work out this month. Maybe next time. The 4th month has been all about smiling! All. the. time. He also laughed his sweet little laugh for the first time. What a sweet sound! He sleeps form about 7:00 to 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning. That's great but he does not sleep much at all during the day. If I'm lucky he'll nap for about an hour in his swing. Hopefully that will change. At his 4 month check -up he weighed 15 lbs. (90th percentile) and was 24 1/2 inches long (75th percentile). Big boy! He obviously eats well! Since the new recommendation is to wait until 6 months for solids he hasn't had any "real food" yet. I think we'll probably try some in the next week or so. Don't think I can wait until 6 months.

He's wearing mostly 6 month clothes and size 2 diapers. He doesn't wear shoes so who knows about that. He likes his exersaucer and has started trying to grab toys now. Everything goes in his mouth. This has been such a fun month with Reed. I can't wait to see what his 5th month brings!

It was so pretty on Sunday that we were able to be outside so we went to the zoo-our old standby.
